Habitat: Breeds along fast-flowing water with rocks. In winter along freshwater and coasts.
Appearance: Widespread and numerous summer visitor in Europe. In Belgium and the Netherlands, extremely rare breeding bird – migratory – passage migrant in fairly large numbers.
Breeding season: April – July, ground nest, 4 eggs.
Characteristics: Length 18 – 20.5 cm, wingspan 32 – 35 cm, weight 40 – 60 grams, age 14 years.
Food: Insects.
