Habitat: Warm, dry areas, such as grasslands, prairies, agricultural areas and forest edges.

Distribution: In areas of Southern and Central Europe. Due to global warming, this species is spreading further north. It has even recently established itself in parts of Belgium and the Netherlands, where it also reproduces in heathlands and along railway lines.

Activity: From late July to October (warm areas).

Characteristics: Length ♂︎ 60 mm, Length ♀︎ 75 mm.

Food: Carnivorous, preying on a wide range of insects and other arthropods, such as grasshoppers, spiders, crickets, flies, bees and bumblebees.
