Habitat: The White Wagtail is a bird of open landscapes. It searches for food in fields, meadows and along roadsides. The species is not very choosy when it comes to nesting: it will nest on the ground, in wood piles, in old buildings, livestock shelters, under roofs or in wall cavities, and even in old barn swallows’ nests and abandoned sand martin nest tunnels. Small-scale agricultural areas, but also villages and municipalities that are not too large, and even urban fringes are therefore suitable breeding habitats.

Characteristics: Length 18 cm, wingspan 25 – 30 cm, weight 14 – 22 grams, age 10 years.
