Habitat: The species can be found in slightly moist, fresh green verges, ditch banks and meadows, but can also be observed in drier areas.
Appearance: Its range extends from Spain to Bulgaria, southern Sweden and Estonia. In the Balkans, the southern boundary of its range is not entirely clear. In Belgium and the Netherlands, the Steppe grasshopper is still present but is quite rare.
Activity: From July to November.
Characteristics: Length ♂︎ 14 – 17 mm, length 18 -21 mm.
Food: Eats grasses, leaves, seeds, flowers and stems of various plants.
