Habitat: The Zitting Cisticola prefers flat open areas with tall grass, sedges or rushes. In more intensively cultivated countries, it can also be found on reclaimed land and even grain fields.

Appearance: Resident in the Mediterranean region, but spreading northwards along the Atlantic coast. In Belgium and the Netherlands, it is an extremely rare breeding bird – migratory.

Breeding season: March – September, nest low to the ground, 4 – 6 eggs.

Characteristics: Length 10 – 11 cm, wingspan 14 cm, weight 6 – 8 grams, age unknown

Food: Insects and other invertebrates.
