Habitat: The common Cylindric Grashopper is found in very dry places, especially on sparsely vegetated wasteland, in steppes and on sandy areas.
Appearance: It is widespread in southern Europe and occurs from southern Spain to Greece and southern Russia. Its northern limit is in southern Slovakia.
Activity: From July to October.
Characteristics: Length ♂︎ 30 – 40 mm, length ♀︎ 50 – 55 mm.
Food: Eats both plant (herbs and grasses) and insect food (small insects).
