Habitat: In all kinds of places with fairly rough vegetation. Particularly in moist places, but also occurs in dry habitats, such as calcareous grasslands and fallow land.

Appearance: Found throughout most of Europe, but absent from Scandinavia, Ireland and part of the Baltic states. The northern distribution limit currently runs from the German and Polish Baltic coast to the south of the Baltic states. Found throughout Belgium and the Netherlands, mainly in the south.

Activity: From June to October.

Characteristics: Length ♂︎ 12 – 18 mm, length ♀︎13 – 18 mm

Food: Mainly eats plants such as grass and herbs, but also small insects such as aphids, caterpillars, flies, etc.
