Habitat: The species is most commonly found in dry, sometimes extremely dry places; in stony, almost vegetation-free dry grasslands and in sheep grazing land with short vegetation.

Distribution: Its range extends from Portugal to Greece and southern Siberia. The northern limit of its range is in southern England and southern Scandinavia. In the Mediterranean region, this species is one of the most common grasshopper species and can often be found in rich meadows with tall vegetation.

Activity: From May to November.

Characteristics: Length ♂︎ 11-15 mm, length ♀︎ 13-23 mm.

Food: It mainly eats various types of plants found in its habitat, such as grasses, leaves, seeds, flowers and stems.
