Habitat: The Icterine Warbler prefers a moist environment. It is found in scrub, alder thickets and dense willow stands, generally with a few tall trees protruding above. Elsewhere, it is mainly found in old gardens, abandoned orchards and large, unkempt hedges.

Appearance: Most of Europe, except Iceland, west to southwest and extreme north Europe. In Belgium and the Netherlands, it is a fairly numerous breeding bird – migratory.

Breeding season: May to July, nests in bushes and trees, 4 to 5 eggs.

Characteristics: Length 12 to 13.5 cm, wingspan 20 to 24 cm, weight 11.5 to 19 grams, lifespan 10 years.

Food: Insects and spiders.
