Water-Meadow Grasshopper

Habitat: In peatlands and extensive, very wet grasslands. It is important that the soil remains permanently moist, as the eggs are very sensitive to drying out.

Distribution: The distribution area extends from the Pyrenees to the Romanian Carpathians, to the Arctic Circle and to western Russia.

Activity: From July to November.

Characteristics: Length ♂︎ 13-16 mm, length ♀︎ 17-25 mm.

Food: Eats various types of plants, with a preference for grasses.
