Habitat: The species occurs in very hot, dry, sparsely vegetated habitats. Various types of dry grasslands, in limestone landscapes, on stony steppes and in dry areas near the coast.

Appearance: Extends from the Canary Islands, Madeira and North Africa, across much of Southern Europe to Greece and East Asia. The northern limit is south of Paris, in Willis, Hungary and Southern Ukraine.

Activity: From early July to late September.

Characteristics: Length ♂︎ 18 – 24 mm, length ♀︎ 25 – 38 mm.

Food: Mainly eats grass and leaves of soft herbs.
