Habitat: It can be found in moist grasslands with sandy soil, or in shrub-covered sand dunes near the coast. Its habitat requires a structurally rich shrub and herb layer.

Appearance: The species is widespread in Africa. In Europe, its range extends from southern Portugal through southern and western Spain, the Balearic Islands, Corsica, Sardinia, south-western Italy and Sicily to Greece.

Activity: Late July to November.

Characteristics: Length ♂︎ 24 – 30 mm, length ♀︎ 28 – 44 mm.

Food: Its diet consists of grasses and herbs and it can even eat dead insects when food is scarce.
