Habitat: Dry, stony places with poor vegetation, such as quarries, rubble slopes and roadsides.

Appearance: Its range in Europe extends from Portugal to Greece and south-western Russia. It also reaches as far north as Paris, Berlin and Moscow. It does not occur in Belgium or the Netherlands, with only a single old site known in Belgium (Torgny).

Activity: From July to October.

Characteristics: Length ♂︎ 14-25 mm, length ♀︎ 22-33 mm.

Food: The diet consists mainly of grasses, leaves, flowers and buds.
