Habitat: Found almost everywhere, opportunistic, dives wherever food can be found.
Appearance: Numerous, widespread resident bird, summer and winter visitor. Very numerous breeding bird – year-round resident – partially migratory – passage migrant.
Breeding season: April to July, cavity nester, 4 to 6 eggs.
Characteristics: Length 19 to 22 cm, wingspan 37 to 42 cm, weight 68 to 107 grams, lifespan 23 years.
Food: Insects, larvae and other soil animals, fruits and berries, in winter also waste.
