Fuel for the bird engine

A bird’s body needs a lot of food to function properly. That food provides energy for the bird’s activities and helps maintain its body temperature, which is a few degrees higher than that of humans. Additional food is necessary for forming eggs, feeding young and building a layer of fat for migration.
